Silk Saree Care And Maintenance Tips

1. Always wrap the sarees in muslin or soft cotton cloth.
2. On a bright sunny day, unfold your silk sarees and dry it at least every once a month. Doing this will maintain silk from smelling damp.
3. Avoid washing pure silk sarees as much as possible as even dry cleaning cannot maintain the quality of the saree.
4. Never fold silk sarees on hangers as they might get stained in reaction with the metal and wood
5. If the saree requires washing then wash with mild soap solution and rinse with cold water.
6. Never dry the wet sarees in bright sunlight as they may lose color (especially the blues, maroons and greens).
7. Never place the naphthalene balls directly in the cupboard or with the sarees as they may stain the fabric while evaporating. Making small bags out of waste cloth and store the fragrances in them.
8. To remove lip stick stains, oil and cosmetic stains, try applying talcum powder to absorb the stains and wipe the area with clean cotton cloth or paper towel.

9 Smart tips for buying sarees:

Tip 1: To get a lovely look, dark skin color women should buy sarees with dark colors such as green, maroon & dark pink etc.

Tip 2: Keep your body type in mind while purchasing silk saree. If you are overweight then Chiffon or Georgette Silk sarees will suit you perfectly. Also heavy Mysore silk sarees are a good option. These fabric sarees enhance your beauty by giving you slimmer look.

Tip 3:Tall women should purchase broad border sarees as they would provide them an elegant and classy look.

Tip 4: If you are short then you should go for sarees with small border or with no border at all.  Broad border sarees will make look even shorter and might ruin your entire appearance

Tip 5: One should always check the weight of silk saree. The heavier the silk is, the longer your silk sari will last.

Tip 6: If you have a voluptuous body then definitely looking slim should be your topmost  priority . Therefore, you should avoid sarees with big prints as they make you look heavier. Further, you should go for Georgette, Chiffon and heavy Mysore Silk sarees. Other than beautiful and elegant look, these fabric sarees will make you look slimmer too.

Tip 7: If your body lacks curves then you should go for Organza, Cotton and Tissue Sarees. These fabric sarees give a fuller look to thin women.

Tip 8: Make sure you are purchasing a pure silk saree as it lasts long and gives an elegant look to its wearer. To check the purity of silk, take few threads and burn them if it leaves a black powdery residue and an unpleasant smell behind, it is pure.

Tip 9: If you are planning to get a silk saree having zari work over it, make sure the zari is pure. Otherwise, it loses its sheen and turns black, ruining the entire look of saree. Also, it is advisable  not to go for gold zari as "pure gold" zari doesn’t exist. It is basically gold coated silver wire which has silk thread in its core.
